Rest

Rest

'When we sabbath, we are declaring, "My faith does not rest on what I can accomplish but on who God is and what He can accomplish."'

So often our church calendars are packed with event, after event, after event. They are often wonderful events, but we don't ever seem to give space for rest.

This weekend at Collective we are creating space for rest.

No setup team, no band, no stories to prepare, no rush to get out the door with the family to get to the gathering on time... this weekend we are simply encouraging everyone to sabbath, to rest, to find space to worship Jesus through ways they maybe usually wouldn't consider.

Walk a beach. Read our Bible. Enjoy coffee with a friend. Make lunch for someone. Meditate on God's goodness over this last few weeks. Enjoy a time of silence and reflection...

Whatever you choose to do, be intentional about it, enjoy this space in our calendar - you never know, you may encounter God in ways you have never expected or experienced before. He's not bound by buildings, meetings, bands, schedules, etc... he is active in His mission of bringing restoration to this world - so let's slow down, lift our heads, and learn to find God in the quiet spaces and in the seemingly mundane of daily life.

Maybe some elements of the Sabbath Manifesto below could help you approach this day of rest...
